Ive just bought a new electric oven, complete with electric grill. Ive never owned electric.

To use the grill, I have to turn the function selector to grill, then turn the temperature selector on to put heat through the grill.

Thing is, I have no idea what temperature to set the grill to. It can be anything from 0 - 275 C.

Ive defrosted some cooked mackerel, and need to re-heat under the grill. What temp should I set the selector to?

Doesn't your new grill come with an instruction manual, mandi?
Question Author
yes, it does, but i cannot find ANY instructions for grilling, only baking!
have you tried googling the make of your grill, and "grilling"?
and check whether you need door open or closed. Most you leave open, so on new one i did and melted all my knobs. Wish id read manual first.
Even 275 seems low for grilling , a grill is 'red hot' around 600 deg you vary the heat to the food by putting it closer to or futher from the grill element.

Thank you, Boxtops, I did just that and Ive found the grilling instructions now.

I was kinda panicking as most of the rest of the dinner was ready, and silly me just thought I would turn the grill up half way and that would be that.
