I got a bit of money for my birthday and think I'll treat myself to a digital camera. The only thing is, with so many to choose from, I don't really know which one to go for!! Can anyone recommend one? It doesn't have to bo too state of the art, just a decent one that'll be good for my holidays etc!!

I can personally recommend the HP Photosmart R707

Click here for a link to Jessops.

It's got 5 megapixels, is dead easy to use, and is a steal at 179.99.

Fuji have a good range of cameras.Go for a well known make (like Fuji,Minolta, Nikon, etc) that have a good reputation as the lens quality will be far superior & this is what makesa good photo or not. Also, don't get drawn into buying a7 megapixel camera unless u intend onproducing posters from your photos -4 megapixel is more than enough foryour average person at 6x4, 7x5 sizeprints (and even 8x10).Finally, if you want zoom, go for optical rather than digital (digital zoom is not worth anything really)Good luck and happy snapping.

I have a Fuji Finepix A340 and its brilliant as I am a bit green where technology is concerned and with a bit of help from ABers I have even managed to download from camera to PC so definitely recommend it.

Without a shadow of doubt this is the finest camera review site out there:

http://www.dpreview.com/

Altough the prices are in dollars you can compare just about every camera out there.

I've had the Kodak 7440 for about 3 months now, and havn't found anything bad about it.  Having 4 megapixels is great for general pics.  It cost me about 130 I think.

I have just trawelled through reviews on different cameras before taking the plunge. I opted for the Nikon Coolpix 5200, which I got for 162 inc postage on the web.

So far, I have been very impressed with it - small, easy to use and at 5 MPix, excellent quality pictures. Real test will come when I take it on holiday next month.

Don't forget that you will probably also need to get 2 sets of rechargeable batteries and a charger, a larger memory card than the one that comes with the camera and a small case to keep everything on.  The batteries supplied with the camera won't last long.
I adore my Nikon Coolpix. The photos are gorgeous. I agree that you should buy 2 extra sets of batteries. I got a good deal from Jessops on a pack of 4 rechargeable batteries.
