need a easy-to-follow step by step guide to recording from keyboard to computer, my computer has a soundcard, i have guitar leads, an adapter for the lead, recording software and an mp3 encoder, and keyboard only has headphone sockets and no midi.  so far all ive managed to be able to do is record from a mic to the computer, but when i tried a cable straight from headphone socket on keyboard to computer via adapter, recording software didnt pick up any sound coming from keyboard. so can any1 help me?

Set everything up as you did before (I assume that you plugged into the line in socket on your soundcard). Open the windows mixer and make sure that the line in level slider is up and that the mute box isn't checked. Go to start/control panel/sounds and audio devices to alter mixer settings. Then click on volume under the record panel. This should bring up the mixer.
