I have just switched my hotwater system back on after being away for a week and the hot water tap is dry nothing at all coming out of it , any ideas please?

Do you have a cistern tank or is it warmed dirctly by the boiler?

i have a hot water tank so boiler heats and fills tank

there is (or should be) a small box on the 'out' pipe from the cistern with a little three position switch on it marked h m w - check that this is on w

Does your central heating run off the same "boiler", I'm not sure what sort of system you have.
