How is land on a slope/hill measured? 5 acres viewed from a satellite on a 1:5 gradient has an actual ground area of 5 acres.

Land areas are measured by the Land Registry, estate agents and just about everyone else only from the 'plan view' (i.e. your 'satellite image'). However a landscape gardener, planning on seeding an extremely large and highly-sloping area, might need to work with the true surface area in order to buy enough seed.
