I have a steam cleaner that can be used for removing wallpaper, cleaning carpets etc which I have used very successfully in the past. However I have a large beige lounge carpet, 18 months old that is 80% wool and wondered if it would be ok to steam clean or might it shrink?

You need to know the temperature of the steamer. Anything above 30 degrees C may shrink the carpet.check out the specifications of a professional carpet steamer and compare. And, how much will it cost to replace the carpet? More than hiring a cleaner for say, £50?
