Because of back problems I find it difficult to clean my oven,& now even if I do say it myself its getting beyond filthy, I can get the rungs out & put 'em in the dishwasher but the rest I'm ashamed of.

I'm now thinking of getting one of those 'Oven Clean' Co's in, has anyone used one? would you reccomend them? how much (approx) are they?

I agree that Oven Pride does a really good reasonably effortless job (no scrubbing anyway). I know someone who does oven cleaning as a second job. Think he charges about £60 and claims to get them really clean.
You may be better off getting an odd-job person in...or even a willing teenager who you trust.
I phoned a comapny and was quoted £55 for a double oven and an 8 burner hob. Mine had been in storage for quite a while though....

Anyway...cleaned it meself in the end...

Yes PL I've got a daughter who only lives 15 mins away but I know how she hates cleaning her own oven and leaves it and leaves it. The only incentive she's got is knowing her M in L is coming to dinner & stays up half the night before to clean it. Soo I wouldn't put her through that.
OH keeps the hob and outside beautiful but his knees won't let him do the oven.
I think I'm going to have to get a Co' in and take pot luck, I'm lucky I can afford it.

Excuse me Pinki!

I cleaned our oven a couple of nights ago. I used Mr Muscle Oven Cleaner which is nasty stuff but it did the job. I sprayed it in the oven then closed the door and left it for two hours. All the gunk then just wipes away, although it's very black and horrible. I managed to get the stainless steel racks clean by scrubbing in the sink with a stainless steel pad.

It took me about an hour and a half to actually clean the oven once the spray had done it's bit. I haven't done it for a year though. What better way to spend the early morning hours!
I used cookerburra - it is a national franchise so you should find someone in your area. They take about 2 hours and the charge was about £60. The cooker was immaculate when they had finished.

I spent a few days trying to get my oven clean. The sprays will not work so dont waste your money on them. I got an oven clean company in. £60 for top and bottom oven and it was left spotless. I now pay for it once a year. It's the only thing that will get it clean. (They scrape the grease off with a razor blade type thing)
They dont clean the trays in the oven so you may want to get ovenpride bags (as talked about in another answer) for them. They cost about £4.99

Laural, You have confirmed it for me, I've got their No/ and will be ringing them first thing Monday.
A little note on this subject... - My sister in law is a SNOB are you?
She desperately needs to get the 'Oven people' in but won't Because > > >
she doesn't want their van outside her house with 'Oven Cleaning Service' plastered all over it in case the neighbours think she's a dirty cow.
Would this stop you?

jem
LOL, I'm rather proud when their van is outside.
I think I would be, too - I am not famed for my domesticity.
