My loft insulation is very dusty ( I dont know how long it's been there - i bought the house over 25 + years ago ) .

What is the insulation material likely to be and is it likely to be dangerous to health - how can i find out ?

Is it little shiny(ish)flakes, or glass-fibre strands?
Further to NN's question, is it 'loose fill' insulation or 'matting'. The latter has been been unrolled, whereas the former has been blown or poured into the loft.
