My mum's bungalow only has a name not a number and she would like to get a house name sign attached to the wall of the house near the front door. There is cladding all over, that three coloured stuff and she was wondering how she could attach a name plate. She has the name of the house fixed onto the gate, but would also like one for the house and I said I would treat her. No good buying though if we cannot put it up. Can you do this and are some types of signs better than others for this particular purpose. Many thanks for any help

I can't figure out the type of cladding you mean Foxy ..................... uPVC? ..... stone maybe?

Yes thats it Ankou. Made of seperate stone pieces I think builder
I guess it's re-constituted stone dust Foxy. Assuming it's glued on well, I'm sure it will be thick enough to take a standard Rawlplug and screw. If in doubt, drill right through the cladding into the masonry behind, and use longer screws ........... especially if the sign is heavy.

Many thanks builder but there is no masonry behind I dont think, as the bungalow is of timber construction.
Don't worry Foxy ............. there's bound to be something there to take a fixing :o)
Question Author
Many thanks builder, I am going to shop around on the internet for a sign and we will have a go!
