I took aim with the fixative spray, which contains various acetates, but unfortunately a spurt shot out, hit my drawing amidships and ran down it. Thereafter fine spray as usual but stain did not disappear upon drying as I had hoped. So how do I get this mark off? I was going to try vodka on a cotton bud, not having any meths, if necessary patching it up with the pastels. Any better idea?

Now it is dry you might struggle but you could try gently dabbing with a cotton bud moistened with pure acetone not nail varnish remover which will stain as it will soften the blob, take it very gently and allow to dry out between attempts....you could also try very gentle scraping with a scalpel blade just skimming off a tiny layer each time and finishing off with a very fine emery board which will key the surface for touching up
