One of the best carpet cleaners I've tried is fizzy water; Perrier seems to be the best, I don't know why.

have you tried baby wipes? they defo work for sick that isn't dried on, but not sure how they would handle dried on sick

I got some Oxy stain remover powder stuff from one of the saver shops, bloody brilliant, dilute, put on and it brings the stains up so easily. 1001 hardly even touched them in my old flat (from previous tenant). You can put it in your washing too.
