Unwanted mail - how do I get it to stop?

After 18 months of moving in I am still receiving the previous home owners mail (porn junk mail). I have returned it as: no longer at this address. I have tried to send an email to the website stating the same (I never get a reply).

This mail arrives in a see-through envelope and it is quite adult and extremely obvious as to what it sells - I find it very embarrasing and very unwanted. Has anyone got any ideas on how I can stop them sending this junk?

Thank you.

Send it to me............please?
Hi bossychloe
All you need to do is write on the envelope "UNSOLICITED MAIL - RETURN TO SENDER" and put it in the post box. Without opening of course !!
Good luck

Hi all, the best part about fbg40s answer is that they get charged for it to be returned. They usually soon get the message after that happens a few times. I dont get half the unsolicited mail these days that I used to get since doing this. Good luck.

Royal Mail is required to deliver all addressed mail, HOWEVER, if you register with the Mailing Preference Service they are able to stop 99% of unsolicited direct mail. Their address is MPS, 5th floor Haymarket house, 1,Oxenden Street, London SW1Y 4EE. I had a similar problem Bossychloe and wrote to them. That was in 2002 and I've had no trouble since. I have their confirmation letter in front of me at the moment. Good luck

Thank you everyone x
When you have some time to spare .... split it up into separate piles, put heavy card or paper in with each pile to make it really heavy, wrap each pack up in brown paper or old unpatterned plastic bags, seal well, put the address on of where it came from and post in the letterbox without a stamp. Don't forget, make it as heavy as possible. What fun !
I used to stop junk mail by putting everything, even the used envelope into the return envelope and posting it back.
Just to add - the mail preference service won't help if it is addressed to the previous occupier and was requested by them.
