Does anyone have any advice on pdas and remote controls?

Was thinking of buying a Philips Pronto, but now thinking of buying a PDA (possibly IPAQ 5450) so I can also use it out and about (eg GPS for when driving and also excel spreadsheets).

Want it to control a load of gadgets including the x10 home automation. Any advice people?
