Just boiled mine with no water in and now it won't work. The light comes on (but there's no-one home).
Its one that sits on a plate rather than a push in plug one. Is there some way of resetting it, or have I totally b*ggered it up?

you have burnt it out - go buy a new one - they are so cheap particularly in Asda

Luckily I have a spare, but I am sure you used to be able to push something to reset them.
The element has a built-in trip switch, usually reset themselves. You can replace the element or the kettle.
Fill the kettle with cold water and leave for a few mins if there is a thermal cut out it may reset it
Good luck Andy

I had this with a philips one last year. you have to partly dismantle the seat/plate and locate the springy metal strips whcih act as themral cutout protection. these flip back to position and away she goes.
you may need a torx screwdriver to access the guts.
