My son just came home from school because half of his teachers didn't turn up today due to the tiny bit of snow we've had that started about 2 hours ago.He only started back yesterday and now I have to put up with him all day again :-/ lol
My oh is also on his way home as he forgot to take the keys to the bank with him this morning.pmsl

Oh, to be a teacher eh?!!
Most of the schools are closed around here too - because half the teachers live 'in the sticks'..... yeah, right.
(I'm only jealous - doctor's surgeries cannot be closed down so readily or easily).

My son is lucky that I am at home all day I suppose, what about those kids whose parents have gone to work and may be unable to get into their houses. I suppose those teachers out in the sticks who can't drive in snow haven't heard of trains!
Maybe the trains aren't running either - it could be 'the wrong sort of snow' on the tracks....?!!
you have trains in the sticks?

i agree it seems a little strange that the snow only started 2 hours ago but maybe the heating is off or there are severe weather warnings in place?
Just to rub it in a bit, my daughter's school is open, so ner ner ner ner ;-)
school in the next street was due to open again today........the boiler has packed up....

Yep doc, keys to the bank.He isn't the only one with a set but his include keys that are needed for parts of the bank that only have one set....and no he doesn't have access to the vault.lol
Trouble is he may have to leave the car here and get the train back in just in case the snow gets worse.
The snow is now coming down really heavily and we have an inch on the ground already,it doesn't look like it is going to stop any time soon!
sounds like they made the right decision then, daffy
Morning daffy and all

Going by the weather forecast, for here on the south coast, we are going to be lashed with heavy snow from tonight, so gonna be a piggin' nightmare......all four cubs in today.......sunny, but very frosty this a.m......ice on cars......and really nippy!

In the North East from Nothumberland to Teesside, there are at least 30 schools closed at the moment , but there have been good warnings given on TV and local radio stations to help parents make the best arrangments they can for their children.I think we have been very lucky in this.
we are ok at the moment in the south west but snow forcast later x
Our staff new year party is due to take place this friday. I am the social events organiser, naturally. I do hope it's not called off - I am so looking forward to belting out my rendition of Fairtytale of New York (yes - I know xmas is over, but I love shouting the bit that says, you scumbag you maggot you cheap dirty ***, happy xmas my @rse I thank god it's my last....) It is my xmas party piece. That and dancing on the table or round the tablets.
... that should say tables. Maybe I need the tablets instead though?!

There were no warnings here brenda as the Fylde Coast was not listed as an area at risk of heavy snow, also it didn't start snowing until around 7.30ish so there wasn't time to send out any warnings. We have had no snow since before Christmas so it wasn't as if we were already snowed in.
