watering plants

i'm very good at killing my plants. i don't know wether i under or over water them i've been looking for a cheap gadget that will tell me when they need watering. i have tried a few places but no one seems to sell them or are out of stock. any advice. thanks for any replys

I use an aquaglobe. It's a glass device with a long spout which goes into the soil to water at the roots and has a globe at the end which you fill with water. When it's empty you fill it up. Easy
