Repairing mahohany damage

I have a nice mahogany piece that seems to have a burn on it, does anyone know how to get rid of it? someone suggested brasso??? I'd get a french polisher in,but i don't know what that means or if i could afford the airfare from france. cheers

a french polisher is someone that restores furniture to its former glory...and they wont come cheap..you can probably get to france for less,,,,seriouse though if this burn is large then the furniture may need stripping down and redoing...if its just a small burn you could try to sand it away with sandpaper..then apply mahogany varnish...then it may not quite match up...it all depends if the furniture is of value and is worth the expense of a french polisher,,,try looking under furniture restorations in your local phone book...mullein
