I have posted a question on this before, but would welcome additional comments.

Does it matter if the needle drops of the scale, on the boiler gauge, can it do damage to the boiler.

The installation was carried out approx 7 months ago. In the winter when the heating is on most of the time the gauge seams to remain in the lower end of a gray indicator on the gauge.
Now, when we only require hot water on demand, the needle drops lower.
When we are away and the boiler has not been used to supply hot water, on our return, the needle has dropped of the scale. I have used the filling system about 4 times.
The installer seems to be reluctant to pay a return visit.

lots of people have combi boilers where the needle does not move because the system is properly sealed.
yours is moving because you have a leak or a safety system is releasing water and i would suggest you have a gradual leak.
have you noticed any damp patches near a rad or or on a ceiling or near the boiler ?
i think that the installer ie reluctant to come back because he cennot charge for something he failed to do correctly, hence his reluctance. time for you to dig your heels in and insist he calls back (easy for me to say )
