Every now and then, my left indicator comes on. When i switch the RIGHT indicator on then off again, it stops. The lever seems secure enough, so there must be a short circuit somewhere or the relay has gone. I dont think its the fuse. How would i check this and find the fault? Once, even doing the electric windows up turned it on!!!

My 307 indicater does exactly the same, i think it must be a general fault with 206/307s, you can buy a new stem but they are quite expensive, i've kinda got used to it now!!

It's not just 206/307. I have a Peugeot 406 Estate, as does my wife. We both found that whenever the right indicator self-cancels, the left one switches itself on. We both had this fault corrected at a Peugeot main dealer. My wife's car's external temperature guage was also indicating -3 in the middle of summer, and we were told that the faults were related. Mine is now OK but my wife's car, after being OK for a while, has now developed the same indicator fault.

We have a 206 purchased in Jan 2001. In the first month we had the problem with the indicators behaving erratically. There is a module in the steering wheel which fails and causes this problem together with many other indicator faults (for instance 'air bag fault'). It was replaced under the guarantee. It has failed once a twice a year ever since and was last replaced under the guarantee by Peugeot Poland in July 2005. It has failed again this week but as the last replacement has survived for more than a year Peugeot will not replace it under the guarantee. My dealer here in Poland tells me that all these faults on 206's were replaced free of charge until the cars are 4 years old and after that Peugeot doesn't want to know.
This electronic module has never been any good from day one and replacing it here costs around GBP196 - an expensive component failure.
