Anyone any quick and easy methord for clearing elder tree stumps? They regrow like crazy

A professional hedgelayer swears by covering the stumps with black polythene and then covering the whole with soil and says that within a year ( not too fast!) it will all have rotted away.

Thanks, I will do just that.
Bit smelly, but paint them with creosote - used it on hawthorn stumps and nothing regrew and over time they have rotted down.

I'll try your method too. I've plenty to get rid of. Creosote's a lovely smell!
Drill a few holes in the stump....only a couple of inches deep then pour a mix of water / roundup into the holes. Mix the roundup at a rate of 1 part roundup to 2 parts water so 100 ml roundup to 200 ml water.

pour into holes over the period of a day or two (nice dry days) and it will zap the roots too.
