Does anyone know where I can still buy the old type light bulbs. (100 watt)
I don't like these energy-efficient ones, they take ages to reach a decent light to read by.

The removal of incandescent bulbs from sale is still in the voluntary phase, so you can still buy them. The most common outlets are 'pound shop' type places and market stalls.

However it will be illegal to sell 100W bulbs from 1st September this year. 75W bulbs (which are rare in this country) will be banned one year later. From 1st September 2011, the ban will include 60W bulbs. The ban on the sale of incandescent bulbs will become total on 1st September 2012.

Buy enough to last you for the rest of your life while you can.

I have.
If you have a local Home Bargains you can get them there, otherwise you need the independent old fashioned hardware shops, I have a stock of over 200, including 20 150 watt, hardest to find!!!
If you get an energy bulb equal to a higher wattage, there really is no difference.

I always thought it was a bad thing that all these energy companies sent out the basic low power bulbs, as they are pathetic.
That's if you can find any Rollo -
Go to www.lightbulbs-direct.com
The new bulbs have hidden dangers, they should never be used in bedside lamps or reading lamps and conrtrary to popular belief they do not save on electriciity unless they are left on 24/7.
Don't get me started on this bone of contention .I hate these energy saving bulbs and have been stock piling since I heard the normal bulbs were to be phased out .
You can still get them. It's just a case of pound shops and cheaper outlets .Snap 'em while you have the chance .
They don't save energy .I had one in the hall .I was half way up the stairs before it warmed up .
Stockpile !!
Just another nanny government initiative so that we can be seen to be doing out bit .If they had their way we would all be sat in the dark so that they can massage more energy saving statistics whilst wasting enormous amounts of taxpayersmoney propping up banks etc.
Get the 20w daylight ones - they are extremely bright.
any pound shop like poundstretcher has 100 bulbs in their hundreds
