Should the tops of the large canna lilies be cut off after flowering?

At this time of year you need to get rid of all top growth, dig up the rhyzomes and store in dry compost in a frost free greenhouse or shed or even wrap up in a newspaper bundle until next Spring, unless of course you live in a mild frost free climate then you can leave them in the ground.
