Dear All,
The electric grill element in the top of our oven smokes very badly when we turn it on. I'm thinking that it has been splashed with fat / food over the years and needs a clean. I have no idea how to clean the element safely though.

Anyone have any advice?

many thanks :o)

one way would be to turn on,provide ventiation and let it burn off!
The oven lining above it will need cleaning too. You'll need a stiff kitchen brush & a spray oven cleaner. Not best for you or the planet but necessary sometimes.
ASTONISH paste cleaner is magic. It comes in a tub .......Great for marks on emulsioned walls as well as bottom of pots& cookers.
I'll second that about Astonish paste. brilliant stuff and I personally use it all the time and its kind to hands!
