Advice on how to build a brick fire surround

We are just in the throws of opening a fireplace that was filled in. We want to put in a wood burning stove and would like a brick surround. Short of money so would like to build it ourselves. Cannot find where to buy bricks that are like tiles and hence take up less room, easier to handle etc.

Brick tile slips are what you're looking for HB..........just happened to find this company on Ebay..............should get you started :o)
