Damp and Mould

My flat has quite a damp problem. Was clearing out some old clothes from my wardrobe and found some of the clothes and shoes had mould and damp on them, despite the fact the shoes were in boxes and the clothes were in a wardrobe.
Can anyone suggest a way to stop this problem, or remove the damp stains from the clothes?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you! Bizarrely I was just reading that question.

Unfortunately it is a rented flat and my landlady is rather complacent about the whole problem....
Any practical solutions I could try?

I'll try another heater in the bedroom then.
Failing that, I'll move out - cant afford to have mouldy clothes in this time of credit crunching!
You need to find a way of moving the damp air around in the wardrobe. Occasional use of a fan heater, whilst leaving the doors open, perhaps.
you need a dehumidifier... they suck out all the extra moisture from the air - my sister had one in her little flat and it worked wonders...
heat and ventilation needed
