Can I fit a dimmer switch when using a 4 light halogen rail in place of my normal light? The transformer is in the light box on the celing so I would guess that I need to make a dimmer and build it into that, rather than use a dimmer switch :(

try to contact the manufacturer of the light fitting - they will be able to advise you correctly. If so, you will be able to use a dimmer in place of the existing switch
