Hi,

Me and my husband currently live with my mum in a council property, and have done for the past 2-3 years now.

However my mum has now met someone and is thinking of moving in with him, but if she moved out would we lose the house, or could we continue living there as long as we kept up the payments.

Does anyone know??

All councils carry out audits now - where they call on the tenants at random to check (amongst other things) that they are actually living at that address.

Better to inform the council and ask their advice.
Unless you are somewhere that doesn't have much demand for council housing, it is very unlikely that you will be allowed to stay. We do not allow tenants to assign tenancies to others except upon death, and there are very strict conditions.
