Lever Taps - Plubing Question?

Th plumber came last week to put new inserts into the kitchen mixer taps because they were dripping very badly. They are now ok.
The problem is that he put th taps back on in the wrong postion so that when I turn them off they touch the mixer spout at some points!I If I were to loosen the screw inside the head of each tap would I be able to reposition them correctly, or would it mean dismantling the inserts?

Why not call the plumber in again and get him to do the job properly?

Which is the correct answer - trouble is if you'd paid him it might take a long time.
If you take the top cap off the tap, you find a small screw. Remove it, then you can lift up the top of the tap - which sits on a splined shaft. You can lift off the tap and reposition it on a different position of the spline - this is what the plumber has failed to do properly when reassembling.
