We have a garden that is continually wet.Theories range from underground river, broken drain, poor general drainage due to soil type etc. We`ve spent 1000 already on an unsuccessful attempt to build a drainage pit near
a large tree in the garden, with drainage channels to carry the water to the pit,but with no success. Can anybody come up with a solution?

Hi we had a waterlogged garden at the bottom end and I bought a roll of 4" underground drain and ran a trench to a pit I dug and built a wall around
into the pit I put an auto sump pump and dischared to the main drainage system
this cured the problem and now my veggies grow and not swim

This happened on a job I was on last year, the builder installed a large pit and then at the top of the pit, about 12" from the top he ran a 100mm drain pipe into the nearest drain so the rain water would still drain into the soil but if there was too much water it would drian off into the storm drain at the back of the house...
Some good stuff here. Re 'Disco Fever's answer, this is great provide you have relatively easy access to drain/inspection chamber and the drain run isn't too shallow - if so go see 'Camber Dave'!
