Which type of tree is best for bonzai? Is Maple a good start?

These trees look lovely, but unless you buy from a specialist bonsai nursery, many of them die., often from drying out in the temperature of your room. Privets and hawthorn are the best for growing, or trees with small leaves. An oak's sometimes a good one, as they can be grown from acorns.
