According to Which

AEG-Electrolux L16830 530 (best for reliability)
John Lewis JLWD1408 499 (3yr guarantee)
Best of all Miele but costs 1,000!

None as good as separate machines though.

Hope this helps.
I agree; I've always had separate machines and they've been great, but a few years ago I had to buy a combination due to space restrictions and I'm not happy with it. Washing is OK, but drying takes for ever and things don't come out as soft as in any of my old standalone dryers. It's an Indesit WIDL102, btw, so don't go there. I'll be investing in a separate dryer again this year, now that I have space for one again.
I once had an Indesit washer/dryer which broke down just before the guarantee ran out. A man came out to look at it, and stood there talking about horse racing until it got to 5 o'clock. He then announced that he had to go! I complained the following Monday, by which time the guarantee'd run out - and it never got put right! Since then, I've always bought separate washers and dryers, and certainly not of the previous make.
I once had a Zanussi washer /dryer , next door thought I was having an affair with the repair man !! So now have a washer and use the line as much as poss, but do have a dryer . Miele is the one to go for if you have the money .Good Luck

Have Hotpoint wd420 at the moment about 4 years old and seems to be leaving marks on clothes.Have looked at reviews for quite a few makes, not many good ones for all brands.Space is the issue no room for both.Still unsure what to purchase Mielle look good but you could buy two maybe three machines for same and they would last as long as one Mielle I would think.Still thanks for all your input.
i would go for the miele, the best you can buy, they arent expensive at all, a better bargain than the other bits of tin in the high street, they last a lot longer!!!!
