When I was young i remember my mother buying tinned wax polish .We would rub it onto the wooden floors with a dry rag then take off our shoes and spend half an hour sliding on the floor to shine it. I'd love my children to have the same fun, but I've tried and tried and can't find it anywhere. Does anybody know of any supermarket branch that sells this - it comes in a tin like shoe polish.

There are many products but one of the more commonly available is Briwax - see here. http://www.briwax.co.uk/
(natural wax or creamed beeswax products).
Last time I bought the natural wax it came from a larger Homebase DIY shed.
My local (independent) hardware store sells it, so have a look in your yellow pages to see any likely shops in your area.
I buy mine from my local health food shop which stocks it along with honey but it is probably a bit expensive for using on floors. I use something called Traffic Wax on floors - local hardware store.

Thank you all for your help. I'll check in my local hardware store.
I'm sure I've seen Carr &Day's tinned polish in Morrisons - not a large display, and on the top shelf.

Good luck
Tony
