I have just cleared a big box of VHS video tapes from my loft - I can obviously recycle the cardboard slip cases - but can I re-use the tapes for anything? I have found places that recycle them (for which you pay them) - I just thought that something can be done to turn them in to something useful... ANY IDEAS? I found a site that tells you how to weave the tape into bags. Any other bright ideas?

it's the wrong time of year but they can be used in the garden. I wrap strips of tape around the canes supporting my fruit bushes - the birds hate them and it keeps them off my soft fruits.
with christmas approaching you could bunch old tape up and use it for packaging (rather like old paper or polystyrene pieces)
The trouble is if you use the tape by itself ( for packing etc ) then the next person will probably just discard it and, just like plastic or fishing line, get entangled in the feet of birds or other wildlife causing suffering.
