Is it possible to use the gubbins left-over from brewing beer ( hops, barley etc) on my allotment, to act as a soil conditioner.

I was sure you could use it, and trawled google to be sure - I'd hate to misinform you. I found this:

Spent hops (22 tonnes p.a.) from the brewing
process have a high fibre content and are collected
by nearby Clayhill Nurseries and local gardeners for
use as an organic compost instead of being sent to
landfill.

That is from Harvey's brewery in Lewes.

Hope that helps.
