i have had a bad back for a few years now and so when we decided to get a new matteress to see if it helped i looked into all the options, and i finally decided on tempur memory foam one,ok it was far from the cheapest option but it has been worth every single penny, my back is much much better ( not cured ) it was a weird feeling the first couple of nights but soon got used to it. Since we have had it i have slept in hotels on 2 occasions and immediately my back started to play up again. Find your local dealer and try it and see what you think :-)

hi lorri

i have been looking into the tempur mattresses but have been told by a couple of people that they have found them hot and sweaty as they mould to your body and the heat can't escape, one couple i know, the wife loves it, the husband hates it.
there are a load of memory foam mattresses like the tempur on ebay for a fraction of the price, will have a look at them.
Memory foam. There are quite a few different types, but if you invest in one of the better-quality ones, I'm sure your back problems'll be eased.
i have te best of both worlds - sprung mattress with a memory foam layer on top - perfect!
my husband and myself both suffer from bad backs and have tried a few dfferent mattresses then we saw the tempura , but when we saw the prices ! it was extremly expensive so we found a cheaper memory foam mattress and thought we would give it a whirl! absolutely fantastic!!!!we felt as though we were resting on a cloud and our backs benefitted from this new mattress.........hope this helps you?
Bednobs - yes, memory foam on top of a miracoil-sprung mattress is great as well.
i suffer back pain and bought a memory foam mattress it cost 450 and i hate it it does me no good at all but i have found the memory foam shaped pillow great and i was told by the physio matress toppers are just as good and cost a lot less
