I recently saw an advert for a spray that you use when you change sheets. It is meant to kill mites etc. Has anyone used/heard of this - or any alternative.
Thanks

No, but did read a long article re bed bugs which concluded that they die when cold, so I pull back the duvets and leave beds unmade for a couple of hours or so and vaccuum the matresses every month-seems to work fine
The only way to ensure that you have no dust mites in your mattress is to completely seal it when new in dust mite proof mattress protectors. However, as wired says ensuring that they are properly aired, vacumming with a strong vacuum cleaner regularly will help. You can also steam clean it, but you need to ensure that it is completely dry. If you kill the mites that are there, there will be more back again the minute you sleep in the bed again unless you seal the mattress after treating - this has to be on the underside as well as the mites will come up from the carpet etc.
having said all that, I think that this may be what you are looking for:-
