Is there any areas in Newmills to avoid buying property Is New mills Freindly - coming from a clicky place I understand sometimes locals dont want "outsiders" Anyone know of dog freindly places / pubs Any information in general about the area in and around would be great.

Hi Ali,I live in Disley about 5 mins away.New Mills is lovely and countryfied once you get away from the main A6 which is very busy all the way from Stockport town centre.I would give yourself at least an hour, maybe more, to get to Wythenshawe. It's a bit mad down to Stockport but the ring road M60 to Wythenshawe is slow but moving if you understand me! I'm not too sure about pubs but there are lovely walks along the canal and you could get to Lyme Park in Disley for fantastic, scenic ,hilly walks if you're fit! It's one of the up and coming areas of Derbyshire so a good place to invest. Not sure about any dodgy areas. Will ask my local estate agent...she's pretty honest. Will get back to you soon.I used the vet's in Whaley Bridge, another 5 minutes away (I sadly lost my dog last year) and they are brilliant....Hope that helps.Fire away with anything else.Cheers.Barb.

Thanks so much your post is very helpful. I have seen the millenium bridge etc on the net so we will do some walking this saturday along with checking out the houses and pubs. I have been looking at Disley too do you have names of local estate agents please.

Maybe I will have to learn another way to Wythenshawe, avoiding the A6. Will be making note for Lyme Park sounds exactly the sort of park we like, at the moment we do the pennines so should be OK...

Sorry about your dog, very sad news. Would be grateful if you can advise which vet you use as a good reccomendation for such things is key.

Well I cant wait for my visit at weekend and if your estate agent has any properties for sale under 130K please pass me her details if you can as I am hoping to do some veiwing this weekend.

Do most properties sell quickly up there?
Thanks again for all your help
Sorry for delay,I have no internet apart from at work.Anyway, have spoken to my local agent,Crank Peach in Disley, lady is called Lynn. She covers New Mills and will tell you where not to buy etc! She does have houses around that price. The vet's is called Knox,Devlin in Canal Street. There is also another one called Rowcliffes which is not a multiple. They have a great website too.Look at Rightmove.I'm not sure of another route to work for you....all roads going anywhere near Manchester are busy. Also try houses in Whaley Bridge...this is a nice area too.Sorry to ramble, have to be fast.Ttyl.Barbara
Sorry, have just read it back and Rowcliffes is an estate agent, not a vet's!

Hi Barb thanks again. i went last night and love Disley area but I dont think I have seen many houses in my price range. New Mills village centre and the walks would suit me too but it was quiet a long drive at rush hour through Bredbury it toook an hour but traffic was bad. I think we need to veiw some properties so I will contact Lyn thanks for that.... and the vets. We are going to keep going there after work and weekends to get to know the area better but I did think we could be very happy there its a case of finding the right house...
Hi again, just read that you went.Hope you manage to find something...it's a lovely area.Good luck...will keep checking in to see how you are doing.Let me know! Barb.
