Is there any particular way to look after an eiderdown, especially, why do they sometimes go flat and thin when there is no feather loss, and also how do you keep an eiderdown plump and full?

Errrrr - sorry. I didn't know anyone still had eiderdowns. I assume you just shake them from time to time like a duvet.
Cheaper feather eiderdowns and duvets contain curled feathers. These feathers straighten out over time, but the more expensive down doesn't.
Put it outside on a dry, warm, sunny day over the clothes line and turn a couple of times. Before you bring it in, get someone to shake it with you and it'll be all lovely and fluffy again!
they go flat and thin because u lie on them in the night (or you sit on it !) and thru moisture absorbtion and the only way of plumping them up is to take them to a specialist cleaners who opens the quilt up, takes the feathers out then cleans them in a special machine, normally using steam and UV light to kill off bacteria.
hope that helps xx
