Hi, I am planning to add my wife onto the deeds of my house, which l own alone, and has no mortage or charge on it. Solicitors are asking around 300 plus disbursements which is more then l paid to buy it around three years ago with searches etc. Is it straightforward to do, are there any pitfalls and are there any guidance notes published? Thanks

This is a very simple matter.

Telephone your land registry for advice. Very often the relevant form is available on line (it's knowing which form that is tricky!) , complete the details and pay the fee.

The LR is very helpful and you should find the whole thing relatively easy.

You need to know the type of joint of ownership you want - joint tenancy or tenants in common. They are very different.
