If a freezer is leaking water on the floor, what could the problem be?

This might sound silly, but has it defrosted? If its working properly there shouldnt be any water anywhere, just ice - my old one used to defrost on its own if it wanted to so it may be that - just a suggestion ;-)
On my fridge/freezer there is a drain that runs from inside at the baclk of the fridge compartment that runs to the outside at the back for the water that collects to evaporate off - maybe there is a pipe that has got mis-routed.
