I moved house in August of last year and contacted NPower to provide me with Gas and Electricity. I contacted them last month as I had not received a Gas bill - they now state they are not my Gas Supplier! I've not had a Gas Bill since moving in. I have contacted Transco and for some reason they are not able to tell me who my gas Provider is. Therefore I cannot seem to get a Gas Supplier because they all need the MPRN, which I cannot get!
Can anyone help? Does anyone have any idea what I might be able to do?!

that's a strange one, what about asking the neighbours who they are with?, I know it's a bit of a longshot as we all have the freedom to choose who or suplier is these days. but it may be a starting point.

Thanks for your response, however I've already tried that. They are with Npower! :o(

But Npower now state they cannot suppliy my gas without the MPRN.

I am beginning to get very confused.
You need to ring MPAS - they are supposed to have details of all addresses and who the current supplier is for both Gas and Electricity.

They will give you an MPAN - a unique number that identifies your address, and the supplier details. You can then ring the supplier quoting the MPAN and get the matter straightened out.

Again, many thanks for your reponse, however I have tried them also. I was told to fill out an online form and fax it to them. Which I did. Over amonth later I had no response and so emailed them. Today I received a reponse saying that they no longer provide this service and that I should try Transco. I will be calling them again tomorrow!

This is why I have posted this question here. I am just running aroud in circles!
Oh - can't believe they couldn't help.

TRANSCO is indeed your best bet to obtain the MPAN.

When you call them have the gas meter serial number to hand - this should be a number with a barcode. But then you've probably worked that out too !

Good Luck - been there done that and it is extremely frustrating.
Just another thought - get in touch with EnergyWatch who can assist as they did will me.
If you had an agent when you bought or rented the property it might be worth asking them ,we recently sold a property and had loads of things to fill in including gas and electric suppliers worth a try
