Wall problem

When we got up this morning and went into the living room we noticed that there was a large perfect circle mark on one of the walls, my first thought was that it was dampness but the house has never had any problems with this and it is always kept warm. When I smelt it it smelt like wet cemment. We are semi-detached and this wall is next to our neighbours could something in their house be causing the problem? Any other ideas what it could be?

If you've checked that there are no leaking pipes on your side of the house,i'd be round to your neighbours & ask them to check it out...ASAP!

Our's seem to be fine. My neighbours have had a problem with their gutter for months but never do anything about it. Its strange as the living room wall is affected but my daughters room which is directly above the living room is fine.
Is it a dividing wall between your properties, or an exterior wall?

Our living room wall is right next to their kitchen wall. They are joined together.
I'd go & have a chat with your neighbour & explain the situation. If you are quite sure that it's not coming from your side.
Well it's obviously little green men!
Winter you see....no crops to play in!
Sound more like a poltergeist to me!!!
I had exactly this in the last house I owned.
It was caused by a leaking pipe in my neighbours airing cupboard.

Get your neighbour to check it out quickly...
As it's in their kitchen, it's highly likely they have water pipes running round some parts of their walls, they could even be behind kitchen cabinets etc. Your neighbours may not know they have a leak. Work out exactly where it's position is and 'match' it on their side. If damage is caused to your wall/plaster you may be able to claim on insurance...my insurance company said they would claim from neighbour's insurance.

Thanks for that, that sounds like it could be the problem.
