If the land is in England/Wales and you mean you have deeds because your land has never been registered at the Land Registry, look here. Follow the links that explain about voluntary registration. You should not have to employ a solicitor and the LR people are there to help you.

Thanks for that. Our land is registered and we are in possession of the deeds, but someone told me that all land owners are advised to re-register their land every 10 years or so?
Who is this "someone"? He/she is plain wrong!
Once you are the registered proprietors, your ownership is state-guaranteed. All that you need to do is ensure that names and addresses are kept up-to-date (eg if you marry/divorce, or move home without selling this land).

NOTE: all this assumes that the land is in England/Wales. Different laws apply in Scotland/NI and abroad.

Well it only goes to prove you can't believe anything you read in the Press.
