High Definititiiton tv is only broadcast by Sky and Telewest at the moment - and then only limited programmes, mainly sport.

In addition to subscribing to the usual package, you have to pay extra (10 a month with Telewest) for the HD box.

If your recording equipment is not HD any recordings will be in standard mode.

You do not need a HD tv - any programmes that are broadcast in HD can be viewed in standard mode on a non-HD tv.
