I've just bought a house (which has been empty for a few months) from the executors of a deceased lady. Although the house is clean, it smells of moth balls.

How can I get rid of that smell?

Thriftyfun.com have lots of answers to someone who had a moth ball smell in their condo. Have a look on that site there are lots of answers including cedar chips, bowls of white vinegar, bicarbonate of soda on the carpets then leave and hoover up.

Good luck - they do stink don't they.

Also on this site someone asking how to get rid of the smell of skunks - good job you don't have that problem!!
