i have just had upvc fascias fitted, when doing so i was told that the felt over the eaves had rotted in places, this was replaced with e.p.s. eaves protection system. this was fine but originaly between the tile and felting there were formed pieces of steel which fitted the contour of the tile which i presume is to stop birds insects etc. this was not replaced so there are now gaps. i was told by the fitter that it did not need replacing. this seems very odd. any advice would be appreciated
thanks jim

Your gut instinct was correct and the fitter was looking for an easy life. These things do stop the birds getting in. The modern sort are plastic 'fingers' on a plastic former that is nailed to the eaves. The fingers stick up and take the contour shape of the tiles. Not easy to retrofit now the eaves tiles have been put down again. Have you paid them?
