I posted a few days ago re my central heating not working and am still struggling to fix it so further help needed please!

Builders mate suggested the diverter valve which i have checked and all seems to be ok with that.

After a lot of reading of the manual and talking to neighbour with same system it seems i was trying to override the the timers and switch the heating on before the programmed time by selecting the wrong buttons. It has a separate advance button for using outside the timers so that wasn't helping matters!

It now appears that the pilot light on the boiler has gone out, something i never checked because the boiler was coming on (well it was making the right sorts of noises!). Howver it doesn't have an ignition button behind the front of the boiler and should automatically re-light once the boiler has been re-set (which i have done following the instructions inside boiler).

How else can i light it?? TIA x

You should really get a corgi approved eng. to look at it, or get a maintenance contract with boiler manufacturer - not a plumber or your gas providor - go straight to the manufacturer. Cheers Hard@it
Why not ask Andy of www.Des-Res.org.uk, he is our resident plumber, and is excellent at fault finding. What he does not know about central heating systems is not worth knowing. His advice is free. [email protected]
If the pilot light isn't coming on then there are a number of reasons. The thermocoupler may have gone, if it is trying to light then you may have problems with a dirt in ignition system or the fan may be not working. This is not a DIY job, on no account try to light it by any other means. Gas and DIY do not make for a good combination. Time for a CORGI registered engineer. All CORGI engineers carry an ID card with date and photo. Insist on seeing it. Good luck.
