Montblanc nib required ...

Last week Mr Sense foolishly dropped his pen - they want a hundred and seventy five quid for a repair ( through a distributor ) having finished my hollow cackle to the person who informed me, now seeking a common sense solution, to this problem. Any ideas folks. Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like the most common sense solution would be to throw it in the bin, buy a standard Parker pen for about �10 and go out to dinner on the change!
I mean Montblanc are the people who refuse to call their materials "plastic" but rather "precious resin"!
Apparently MontBlanc keep a very very tight grip on parts "to prevent a full pen being manufactured from parts"
I guess if I'd spent so much money in developing a brand that I could charge hundreds of pounds for a gold nib and some "precious resin" I'd keep a rather tight grip on parts too!
Sorry I think if you want a genuine replacement you'll have to cough up.

Jake - it was a token of love and appreciation from a client.
Not a chance I will be coughing up 175 quid!!!!!! However on ebay I can get a fully functioning one to take nib from .... (had a flash of inspiration ) and have been poking around to see what surfaces: for a fraction of the repair bill. I have to say the opening line of some of the descriptions as precious resin had me ROFPMSL. Now how can I melt the nib, to make something useful with it!
I must admit I did cough for a matching ball point for his birthday ' cos that was all he wanted. My socialist Scottish grandparents will be spinning in their Co-op graves!!
