Hi Skylight, have been to look at my bag of compost, its usually John Innes No 2, which I dig in to my rather clay soil. Could you give me a name for the compost for my acer, which you very kindly answered, but which or what name I can look for, as completely stumped as usual. Its a good job there are gardeners on line, I don't have to ask next door,he doesn't know what twitch is ?????Ugh

Hi again reffgt. Are you going to put it in a pot? skylight
Hi reffgt again. If puting in pot - Dont have pot too large or too deep, put some crocks in bottom for drainage, go to garden centre and ask for small bag John Innes Ericaceous or equivilant ( approx 3.00). Pot up and leave about 2 ins at top for watering purposes, finish off with layer of grit . . Put in sheltered place over winter and dont water again until spring. If you mean to l eave in garden then either mulch with some ericaceous or some peat .
