My partner and I currently live (in rented accomodation ) in a really nice village that we don't particularly want to leave, however we're also wanting to get our foot on the property ladder, and have looked to other villages to perhaps buy, as house prices in this village are much much more than what we can afford, by buying else where we would also have to get a second car as my partner works in this village.

We're keen to buy as we feel we're throwing money away each month renting, and want to have a place of our own

We've recently found out that next sept there will be some 'affordable houses' for sale in this village, should we wait, or buy somewhere else?

I should wait. You may find that existing property that is going to be very close to the new builds may go on the market at a reduced price, with the seller wanting a quick sale.

You want to live in the village and the cost of running a second vehcile can be costly - better spent on housing. Hold out.

Find out as much as you can about these new properties and do whatever you can to be in a good position to buy.

The fact that you already live and work in the village will be a big help.

In the meantime, save whatever you can in readiness.

Another thought - is there any possibility of you buying the property you are living in? It may be worth considering.

Good luck!

we're finding it difficult to save due to the price of renting, we can't buy this flat (our landlord won't) the house prices in this village are some 50,000 more than what we can afford.

ah why is life never easy!

Fingers crossed for the lottery!

Failing that - good luck with the affordable housing.
Wait for the affordable housing. Once you are in it you can then move up.
